Scott is originally from Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. He then attended BSC and UND, where he earned All-American status three times in wresting, was named Academic All-American and won a gold medal in the Jr. Pan American games in Cali, Columbia. Scott began his coaching career at Mandan High as an assistant in 1984. Beginning in 1989, he was the Head/Co-Head wrestling coach at BHS until 2015 and was awarded the NHSCA National Coach of the Year in 2004. He is a member of the NDHSAA, the NDHSCA and the National HS Coaches Assn. Halls of Fame. He retired from BPS after teaching Business Ed for 27 years at BHS. Scott volunteered coaching for 4 years at Bismarck High before returning as an assistant wrestling coach in 2020 and 2021. Scott has two married sons, Zac (Ashley) and Kael (Lexi). Scott also has a granddaughter, Amelia (Zac/Ashley) and a grandson, Liam (Kael/Lexi).

Austin is originally from Hastings, Minnesota and graduated from Hastings High School in 2016. He attended the University of Mary where he was a four-time starter for the Marauders in wrestling. He was also an assistant coach for the Marauders last year.

Austin is a Physical Education and Health teacher at Wachter Middle School. He is married to Kylee Eichmann and the two of them have a beautiful baby girl named Evelyn, along with two dogs, Oscar and Ollie.

Tony Steckler

Assistant Coach


Tony Steckler is originally from Dickinson, ND and graduated from Dickinson High School where he competed in football, wrestling, and track. He then attended Dickinson State University where he majored in Biology and Physical Education, and played football and then student coached for the Blue Hawks. Past coaching experience includes football, wrestling, and track at the middle school level, YFL football, Bismarck Youth and Babe Ruth Baseball. Tony was an enlisted member of the North Dakota Army National Guard and retired with over 21 years of service. He and his wife Mindi have two sons, Mason (23) and Matthew (18). Tony currently teaches Carpentry at the BPS Career Academy and Technical Center.
